About the Program

Hear one of the most famous classical pieces by one of the most famous classical composers! Beethoven's epic Ninth Symphony features four vocal soloists and a full chorus for the immediately-identifiable "Ode To Joy". Also on the program is Beethoven's intimate and serene Piano Concerto No. 4, which he composed for his last public appearance as a soloist. Spend your afternoon with the brilliant music of Beethoven.

Concert Highlights

  • Music Director Gerard Schwarz conducts the Palm Beach Symphony Orchestra in the first concert of their 2019-20 season.
  • World renowned pianist Horacio Gutierrez performs Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4.
  • The Choral Society of the Palm Beaches and The Masterworks Chorus of the Palm Beaches will join Palm Beach Atlantic University's Oratorio Chorus for a performance of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9.
  • The final movement of Beethoven's 9th, Ode to Joy, is the anthem of the Council of Europe and European Union.
