Remembering Pianist Leon Fleisher

August 4, 2020

Palm Beach Symphony joins the international music community in mourning the death of pianist Leon Fleisher, who passed away on August 5 at the age of 92.

Fleisher appeared in the final performance of our 2018-19 season, which was the first performance under our current music director Gerard Schwarz.

Fleisher's recordings of the piano concertos by Brahms and Beethoven with the Cleveland Orchestra are still considered to be the definitive recordings of these concertos and are studied by pianists around the world.

His incredible biography is detailed in the tribute written by Allan Kozinn of the New York Times.
