About the Performer

Violinist Avi Nagin is a member of the critically acclaimed Amernet String Quartet, as well as Assistant Teaching Professor of Violin and Chamber Music at Florida International University where the quartet serves as Artist-In-Residence Ensemble. A native New Yorker, Avi’s performances have brought him to halls across the United States, Europe, and Israel.  In addition to his touring schedule with the Amernet, he maintains an active career as a chamber musician and has performed with members of the Borromeo, Ebène and Orion Quartets, Anton Nel, Ronald Leonard, and Awadagin Pratt. Avi has served as Concertmaster of the Sarasota Opera, Opera Naples, Artosphere Festival Orchestra, and has performed as guest Assistant Concertmaster of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. During the summers, Avi is on the faculty of the Eastern Music Festival, where he also serves as 2nd Assistant Concertmaster of the Eastern Festival Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Gerard Schwarz. Avi has served on the juries of competitions at the Frost School of Music, the Eastern Music Festival, and the John Oliveira String Competition at Lynn University, and his students have gone on to study at prestigious institutions including The Juilliard School. Avi has attended the festivals of Prussia Cove, Tanglewood, and Aspen, and holds degrees from Yale University and The Colburn School.
